Margaret Matray is a staff writer for The Virginian-Pilot, where she covers courts and public safety. She enjoys writing about life that happens between the bold headlines and is always on the lookout for a good story.
At The Pilot, she delved into a wrongful conviction and uncovered a hidden cemetery. She shined a light on a woman’s death in a local jail and explored the underground world of illicit massage parlors in the region’s suburbs.
Before moving to Virginia in October 2012, Margaret spent four years as a features reporter for the Casper Star-Tribune, the statewide daily newspaper in Wyoming.
She’s a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and lives in Norfolk, Va.
